Politico ran a story on the personal cell phone belonging to White House Chief of Staff, John Kelly. It turns out that it was hacked sometime in December of 2016. He’d been using and fiddling with it up until September 2017, when he finally gave it to staffers to figure out why he couldn’t get software updates.
The point here is that if your mobile device or computer is borked and not working right, take it to the shop immediately. Don’t continue using it.
So, Bruce Schneier did a bit on this issue in his security forum. This stimulated a bit of humor, which I consolidated into a joke here.
In an unusual spirit of espionage comradery, a Chinese Hacker, a Russian Hacker, and a NSA analyst find themselves in a bar.
CH: We hacked into Kelly’s phone and guess what we found?
RH: What is that?
CH: You Russians were already there!
RH: Yeah well, guess what we found?
CH: What?
RH: The NSA was already there!
NSA: Well guys, the joke’s on us. We pulled the battery and found a sticker, “Snowden was here”.
